Berkeley Hills

The Berkeley Hills have beautiful Golden Gate and Bay views. The streets are winding and in places have no sidewalks. The architecture is a mix of Period Revival, some California Bungalows, Brown Shingles, and Mid-Century.

Period Revival 1915 - 1940

During this period the homes were designed to look like buildings from another place or era. There are Spanish or Mediterranean Revival homes that look like Mediterranean villas. The Tudor Revival architecture is designed to look like English Tudor mansions and Colonial Revival look like American Colonial homes.

Brown Shingle

The " Brown shingle" is the iconic style of the Elmwood Neighborhood.

California Bungalow 1910 - 1925

The California Bungalow is an offshoot of the Arts and Crafts architectural style. They were most commonly one story or one and a half stories, with a low pitched roof, an accentuated overhang, and exposed rafter tails. They generally have a modest porch and frequently have a bay window.

"Cragmont Rock Park is one of Berkeley’s rock parks in the Northbrae area, providing great views and challenges for rock climbing beginners."

Indian Rock Park

"Indian Rock Park was a gift to the City of Berkeley from Mason-McDuffie Real Estate Company during its development of the Northbrae area. It was dedicated for park purposes in 1917. Dick Leonard, the “father of modern rock climbing,” and noted environmentalist David Brower, founder of Friends of the Earth, learned rock climbing and developed their mountaineering techniques at Indian Rock."

Tilden Park
