Crocker Highlands is one of Oakland's prettiest neighborhoods. There are tree lined streets and charming homes. Many of the homes are from the Period Revival era. In upper Crocker there are mini-mansions and on Trestle Glen there is a mix of smaller homes and large homes.

A Short History

Lakeshore Highlands as the development was originally called, was built during a boom period for residentail building in Oakland.  In the beginning the Leimert Company built many houses.  Later it was more common for the homeowner to buy a lot, at a cost somewhere between $900 and $3000.  The building restrictions of the tract were that each house cost at least $3000 and on larger lots more than $3000.  This was at a time when flatland bungalows cost around $1200 to build.  In October of 1922, Ten fully decorated and company-built models homes on Trestle Glen Road were shown as the California Complete Homes Exposition.  These homes were priced from $8750 to $14,500.  This began a new trend in marketing homes for sale.
