   About Montclair The Montclair District, located in the hills east of Piedmont, and is one of Oakland's most coveted neighborhoods.
The hills still retain much of their forest cover. Homes are nestled in this wooded setting, very verdant and tranquil. The roads are winding, even serpentine.The homes are mostly mid-century and contemporary with a smattering of 1920's homes in a small section known as Fernwood. There are very few sidewalks on the residential streets of Montclair; it feel like living in the country. Parts of Mill Valley in Marin County have the same restful wooded feel. Montclair village a collection of stores, restaurants and service outlets, sits in the heart of the district. There are actually two shopping areas: Village Square and the Village itself. On Saturdays there is a farmer's market at Village Square. Each year Montclair Village hosts an Art Festival where artists from all over the state come to exhibit and sell their wares. The schools in Montclair have very good reputations.
