Ocean View is probably the oldest part of the city. The neighborhood was semi-industrial until the Fourth Street shopping district was created. Fourth Street has the most upscale shopping in Berkeley. There are boutique shops and gourmet restaurants. To make shopping easier there is free parking in a lot just behind some of the shops.

Queen Ann The Victorian style of architecture flourished during the reign of Queen Victoria, and was named in her honor. The buildings we call "Victorians" were actually constructed during that era. East Bay examples include Folk, Queen Anne, Shingle, Italianate and Neo-Classic styles.
