About Thousand Oaks.
Thousand Oaks is a neighborhood where you can have everything. You can live in the hills, enjoy the views, soak in the ambiance, and still be able to walk to everything. Located north of Solano Avenue to the Kensington border and east to Spruce Street. The streets are quiet and tree-lined. The homes are modest , 2 and 3 bedrooms, on the streets below Colusa Avenue, and larger as you go up the hill. The area was developed between the mid to late 1920s and mid 1930s. The area is eclectic in terms of home styles although Period Revival is probably the most common style.

Period Revival 1915 - 1940

During this period the homes were designed to look like buildings from another place or era. There are Spanish or Mediterranean Revival homes that look like Mediterranean villas. The Tudor Revival architecture is designed to look like English Tudor mansions and Colonial Revival look like American Colonial homes.

California Bungalow 1910 - 1925

The California Bungalow is an offshoot of the Arts and Crafts architectural style. They were most commonly one story or one and a half stories, with a low pitched roof, an accentuated overhang, and exposed rafter tails. They generally have a modest porch and frequently have a bay window.
